But we were delighted to hear of the safe arrival of baby Obed Cornelis Molenaar.

Baby Obed was born in Katete and is now back home. Both baby and mother are well.

We rejoice with the Molenaars in God’s goodness to them and pray for their newly extended family to know God’s richest blessings of salvation.

Not that far in Australian terms...
Here is a brief report from Ross Smith, one of those involved int he work:

“With most of us not living in the area it is hard to build up a public presence. Through advertising in the local papers a few local visitors have come along. We currently number 10 adults and 6 children. This Saturday we are starting a monthly "meet and greet" in the local shopping precinct where we will introduce ourselves to shoppers and offer them a TBS bookmark which has a sticker with the details of the congregation on the back. We hope this will also give us an opportunity to engage the people in discussion about the need for Christ as their personal Saviour.”

Please pray for this developing work and those who are diligent in bringing the claims of Christ to their neighbours in Sunbury.

Cal Mac have confirmed in the national press today that there will not be Sabbath day sailings on the main routes (Stornoway/Tarbert) this winter. This is obviously a cause of deep gratitude and thanksgiving for us all. Whilst the war is far from over, that battle is certainly won - in the short term at least.

http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/scotland/Ferry-firm-rules-out-Sabbath.4365530.jp

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that supported and signed the petition, and who made the matter a point of prayer in the past year. Please continue with cheerfulness in prayer; whilst the threat has abated, it still remains a concern in the medium term.

from the Lewis LDOS branch
SMITHS FALLS INDUCTION

The congregation of Smiths Falls in Ontario, Canada was received into the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) at the General Assembly of May 2002. It was with a sense of thankfulness and joy that the members of the congregation and friends joined together on Saturday 26^th July for the ordination and induction of the Rev Bert Pohl to the charge. Mr Pohl had served as an elder in our congregation in Adelaide and had been trained at the Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids and at the FCC Seminary.

The Rev John J Murray, Glasgow, had been appointed to preach and preside on the occasion. He conducted worship and spoke from Revelation 2.1 ‘Christ in the midst of the churches’. After setting aside Mr. Pohl to the holy ministry Mr Murray addressed suitable words of exhortation to the new minister and to the congregation. The service was followed by a reception in which presentations were made to the Pohls and welcome speeches came from the Rev David Compton, Mr Art Hackett and Mr Tony Pohl. Greetings were read from many congregations and ministers in Scotland as well as from the USA and Australia.
